What are Tribe games?
Every year at camp, students participate in Tribe games. Each Tribe consists of male and female students from different campuses who are different ages and grades. It’s a time for them to connect, meet students from other campuses, and engage in friendly competition. We pick a theme and encourage our leaders and students to go “all out” wearing their team color or something that fits their team name (themes for this year’s camp will be sent to all registered students on January 26). For Tribe games on Saturday, we say, “The crazier, the better!” We’ve seen everything from tutus to face paint.

Your student will be contacted by their Tribe leaders the week prior to camp; tribe assignments are final and cannot be changed. Your student will still get to room with students from their campus and hang out and sit with their friends at mealtimes, during sessions, and during all other activities. If you see the wrong campus listed by your student’s name, email us as soon as possible at gwsevents@gatewaypeople.com.

Here are some ways you can help your student prepare for Tribe games at camp:

  • Once they receive their Tribe assignment, brainstorm fun ways they can show team spirit.
  • Find clothing that fits their Tribe name.
  • Repurpose or purchase inexpensive shirts or bandanas to decorate (Walmart and Hobby Lobby have great options under $5.)
  • Use puff paint, fabric markers, iron-on transfers, and more. Be creative—the possibilities are endless!
