Crisis Relief
On March 28, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar. The epicenter was near Mandalay and caused widespread destruction, including the collapse of buildings and historical temples. A 6.4 magnitude aftershock only made matters worse—tremors were felt as far away as Bangkok, Thailand, where several high-rise buildings collapsed. To date, over 1,700 people have lost their lives because of the earthquake and the death toll is still climbing. Rescue operations are ongoing, but the efforts are hampered by extensive damage and ongoing civil unrest in the region. Gateway is working with ministry partners in the affected area to coordinate response efforts.
As a church, it’s important we have an organized response to this crisis so we can be of assistance and not a hindrance. We ask that you not travel to the affected area unless you have communicated with an organization already involved in relief efforts and they are aware of your arrival. Here’s how you can help right now.
PRAY
- Pray for God’s comfort to surround the families affected.
- Pray for the first responders to have strength as they continue serving their communities.
- Pray for healing, peace, provision, and restoration for every community impacted.
GIVE
Your donations will be given to our ministry partners helping those affected. Give to our crisis relief fund.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. –Proverbs 18:10
