Gayland serves as a church network pastor and elder at Gateway Church. Prior to serving at Gateway, he spent 38 years in the banking business as president of two of the largest Tarrant County–based community banks. He holds a master’s degree in banking from Southern Methodist University.
Gayland grew up in the Baptist church and was baptized at the age of seven, but he never fully surrendered his life to the Lord until September 27, 1973, when he and his wife, Susan, experienced a marital crisis.
Gayland and Susan have been married since 1969 and have two married sons and six wonderful grandchildren.
