Water Baptisms
Water baptism is a celebration of your decision to follow Jesus, and it’s a wonderful way for you to publicly declare your commitment to the Lord! If you’re ready to be baptized, we want to celebrate with you at our next water baptism weekend.
What is the purpose of water baptism?
The choice to be water baptized is a public, outward expression of your inward decision to follow Jesus. Water baptism does not impact your salvation; rather, the physical act of being immersed in water symbolically shows your participation in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. When you go down into the water, you’re dying to your old, sinful life and laying it to rest. When you are raised out of the water, you’re stepping into the brand-new life Christ has for you! (Romans 3:23; 6:23; 10:13)
Who should be water baptized?
Whoever has believed in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, repented of their sins, and surrendered their lives to Him should take the next step of water baptism. (Acts 8:35–39; 16:30–34; 18:8)
Why should I be water baptized?
Jesus, the Creator of the Universe, was water baptized (Mark 1:9–11), and He commands all believers to follow His example. (Matthew 28:19–20; 1 Peter 2:21)
How should I be water baptized?
The Greek word for “baptize” means to fully immerse or submerge under. The only required elements are enough water to fully submerge your whole body and a fellow believer to help baptize you. Jesus Himself was baptized by his cousin John, showing that the permission to baptize is given to all Christians, no credentials required. (Matthew 3:13–17; 28:18–20)
