Hurricane Harvey has devastated south Texas. We are closely monitoring the situation. We are in contact with local churches and first responders on the ground. As we have updates, we will post them to this site.

It is important we follow an organized response so that we, as a church, can be of assistance and not a hindrance. We ask that you not travel to the disaster site(s) unless you have communicated with an organization already involved in relief efforts and they are aware of your arrival.

We are working with a few organizations in the affected areas to aid in relief efforts.

  • Minuteman Disaster Response: Minuteman Disaster Response is a first-responder support team comprised of highly skilled volunteers that offer life-saving services at disaster scenes. minutemanresponse.org
  • Mercy Chefs: Mercy Chefs is a nonprofit, faith-based charitable organization committed to providing high-quality, professionally prepared meals to victims, first responders, and volunteers during natural disasters and national emergencies. mercychefs.com
  • The Goodness Project: The Goodness Project works with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) providing life-sustaining necessities directly to those affected by disaster. teamgoodness.com

VOLUNTEER

Samaritan’s Purse is accepting volunteers to help with clean up in south Texas. Once they identify areas of greatest need and secure host church locations, they will begin to deploy volunteers to physically and spiritually minister to homeowners. If you would like to volunteer, visit their volunteer network page. A volunteer coordinator will contact you within a few days of filling out the application. Samaritan's Purse's website is experiencing a high volume of traffic right now, so be patient if the page doesn't load right away.

Local opportunities to volunteer:

PRAY

Prayer changes everything, brings comfort to those in difficult situations, and heals the brokenhearted. The power of prayer moves mountains. Pray for the following:

  • The victims of the hurricane.
  • The flooding and storms to dissipate.
  • The first responders and volunteers who aid those in need.

GIVE

Financial donations are the best way to help support victims of disasters.

You can support victims of Hurricane Harvey in a few ways:

You can give directly to The Goodness Project, a private, Christian-based organization that we work with to meet relevant needs to those in crisis.

Give to The Goodness Project.
You can also give through Gateway. Your donations will be given to our ministry partners helping those affected. We work with local churches, first responders, and organizations that serve the community after disasters.

Give to Gateway Crisis Relief.
After following the link above, select “Give Now,” and log in or create a profile.
Enter the amount you’d like to give, and in the “Giving Type” box, select “Crisis/Disaster Relief.”

Give to Baruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue.
Also, you can direct aid to the local Messianic Jewish community in Houston. Give through Baruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue in Dallas to support the local relief efforts for two Houston congregations. Be sure to designate “Hurricane Relief” with your gift.
