Gateway Kids | Reopening FAQ

What are your health and symptom guidelines?
As we reopen our Gateway Kids classrooms, the CDC has asked that we be even more cautious with screening symptoms. If you or anyone in your family are experiencing any of the symptoms below, including symptoms of allergies, or had contact with anyone confirmed to have COVID-19 (in the past 14 days), we ask that you please stay home and worship with us online until you are symptom-free for 24 hours.

Please stay home if you have:

  • A fever of 100.0 or above
  • Chills
  • Muscle and body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Itchy or watery eyes
  • Sneezing

Will I be screened as I drop off or pick up my children?
Anyone entering the Gateway Kids area will need to be screened, including children, to ensure everyone’s safety. We will be checking temperatures at your wrist or forehead. Adults who clear screening will receive a green wristband and can then enter the Gateway Kids area. Children will receive a green sticker with their name tag.

When you arrive at the campus for service, stop at a screening station at the entrance to the Gateway Kids areas. While you drop children off, please be mindful of physical distancing with other families.

Are we required to wear face masks?
We ask that all adults wear masks at all times while in the Gateway Kids areas.

Is hand sanitizer available for my children?
Absolutely. Gateway has used the Babyganics brand of hand sanitizer for years because it is safe for young children. We will ask all children to sanitize their hands upon entering and exiting their classrooms.

Is the Gateway Kids team taking any extra cleaning measures in my child’s classroom?
We have removed certain toys from the classrooms to reduce cross-contamination, and our volunteers are doing detailed cleaning in each classroom between services. We use a ProKure solution to clean each room. The EPA/CDC approves this disinfectant for emerging pathogens like COVID-19. The solution is safe for all surfaces (including food-contact surfaces) and leaves no harmful residue. If you arrive during this detailed cleaning, please practice physical distancing outside the classroom while you wait. After service, please remember to pick up your children promptly so our teams have sufficient time to complete a thorough cleaning before the next service.

Is the Gateway Kids team taking any extra safety measures?
Yes. Everyone serving in our kids areas is required to be symptom-free for 24 hours, based on the CDC list of potential COVID-19 symptoms, as well as any type of cold, allergy, or viral symptoms.

Are you screening volunteers?
Yes. We require temperature checks for anyone serving in the kids areas.

Are volunteers required to wear masks or gloves?
All volunteers must wear a mask at all times, except for teachers or worship leaders, as long as they remain safely distanced from any children. Many ministry volunteers will be wearing gloves if they serve at certain stations or are in close or direct contact with others.

Is hand sanitizer available for volunteers?
All workers will use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting each classroom and will continue to use hand sanitizer as often as possible throughout the day.
