Stokes Collins
Joined Gateway Staff: Joined the Gateway team in 2010
Family: My wonderful wife, Beth (married since 2000); daughters, Londan and McLane (favorite part of my family—their ability to always create laughter in our home)
Saved: Met my friend, Jesus, in 1999 when a girl I was dating wouldn’t go out with me on Wednesday nights because of church. I finally gave in and went to church with her and experienced my first “charismatic” experience. The preacher literally walked across the tops of the pews that night. I said to myself, “Well, I will never do this again!” Two weeks later, I gave my heart to Christ in that same church. Oh, the girl I was dating? We’ve been married since 2000.
Previous Lines of Work: Sales and marketing for most of my life.
One of the Things I Find Most Fascinating: That Jesus wants to put our broken hearts back together and help me walk in freedom (Luke 4:18) and that my behavior has no ability to limit or escalate that process. Once I agree to be a dead man and stay there, Jesus wants to show me the truth of my life. He is so cool that way.

One of My Greatest Experiences with God: God has been taking me through a journey of Proverbs 31 for a few years. The realization I feel like He is bringing me to is that the woman described in verses 10–31 is the who King Lemuel married, in faith. In this passage, the king’s mother is telling her son how to view his wife, not how to qualify her. In other words, this is how he should regard her. Statements like: “Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land” give me the picture that the elders knew that this guy absolutely loved his wife. He never shut up about her; he never tore her down in front of them. To me, this is the guy to talk to if my marriage gets rocky. Pretty cool, I think!
Most People Don’t Know This About Me: Sometimes I like to talk with a terrible version of a Spanish accent.
