“Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!”
Proverbs 31:25 (AMPC)

Somewhere along our freedom journey to fearlessness, we all will have to come to terms with our insecurity. We don’t know what your experiences have been with this topic thus far, but in our opinion: Insecurity is the. worst. ever.

It makes us do weird things like go on crazy unhealthy diets, break off relationships out of the blue for mysterious reasons, make us overcompensate with pride or false humility, and never allow us to fully express our hearts and be seen by others. It can come in bouts like right before making big, life-changing decisions, or it can be like that toxic friend we can’t seem to cut ties with, the one constantly bad-mouthing our progress, so we eventually give up on being brave.

Now, get ready because we’re going to drill down and see what the Bible has to say to our insecurity. But before we get into that, let’s get one lie out of the way. It is this— confidence is NOT the result of the genetic lottery, like having thick hair or a fast metabolism, and self-esteem is not reserved for the extroverts or those with the right personality type. No! Every woman has the right to be and feel bold, strong, and confident. It’s part of our spiritual inheritance as women of God.

Don’t believe us – read Proverbs 31:25. Actually, let’s break it down together from the Amplified.

  • “Strength and dignity are her clothing…” Expressing our femininity and personality through makeup and fashion is wonderful, but our beauty radiates from the inside. It is the result of God dignifying us with His presence and strength.
  • “…and her position is strong and secure…” Your ministry, your passions, your talents, your value, what you have to offer in relationship, all of that is YOURS alone. And no one can take it from you. So no more comparison and competition. Just figure out your passion and blaze a trail with your life that inspires others to do the same.
  • “…she rejoices over the future…knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it…” Here’s what God’s saying: You’re ready. Whatever is coming your way, you’ve got this because He’s equipped you with everything you need (2 Peter 1:3). God has resourced you to the max in the spirit, so whatever battle you may walk into tomorrow, remember: You’ve got all the ammo.

So how do we feel? Insecure? Nah – we’re filled up. We’re clothed in dignity, secure in our significance, and ready for whatever’s coming next. All that’s left to do is pick up your phone and text one of your girlfriends. Share this verse with her. Affirm her. Encourage her. And pass the freedom on.

Father, it does You no good for us to walk around insecure and defeated. Shake us out of that! Boost our confidence, so we can be like David when he said, “In [God’s] strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall” (Psalm 18:29). In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
