Let us think of ways to motivate one another
to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do,
but encourage one another, especially now
that the day of his return is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24–25 NLT

I have had many different seasons in my life. I have been single and married; no kids and with kids; worked full time and part-time. I have been a stay-at-home mom and a working mom; I have been just about everything except an empty- nester, although I see that season on the horizon. In every season, my desire has been to make my mark—to make a difference in my home, church, workplace, and community. The one constant in every season is that I realize that I cannot make a difference alone.

Have you ever noticed there was no Lone Ranger in the Bible? When God called Moses to deliver the Israelites, He first sent Aaron to help him and then later sent Joshua. When God called Esther to help save her people, she had her uncle Mordecai to give her wisdom and counsel and help her fulfill her destiny. When Paul was commissioned to spread the gospel to the world, he was sent out with Barnabas. Even as Jesus fulfilled His ministry, He was surrounded by His disciples.

It is only in community that you fulfill God’s destiny and plan for your life and truly make your mark. We need relationships with people in our lives who can support us, encourage us, challenge us, and mentor us.

Make Your Mark
What season of life are you in? Do you want to make your mark by raising great kids? Surround yourself with other moms who can encourage and mentor you. Do you want to make your mark in the marketplace? Seek out other women who are a little ahead of you in their careers and who you can walk alongside and learn from. Walking in community with other women in similar seasons will help you become what God has called you to be. We are created to do life together.
