Car Donation Application Instructions

Please carefully read the 5-Step Process to see if you qualify to apply for a car through the Car Donation Ministry Program at Gateway Church.

Step 1:
The first step of getting accepted into the Program is by meeting these basic requirements:

  • You have attended Gateway’s Catch the Vision Membership Class, and have been an active member of Gateway Church for a minimum of 6 months.
  • You have been regularly tithing to Gateway Church for a minimum of 6 months.
  • You have a valid and current Texas Driver License.
  • You are employed and have an income to be able to afford insurance on the vehicle.

Step 2:

  • If you meet the basic requirements, you are qualified to fill out the Car Donation Application (or download a printable/electronic version using the link below and scrolling to Downloads).
  • All 5 pages of the application must be completed. There is a checklist (on page 5) to help ensure you are submitting all required documents.
  • We will not proceed with your Application unless we have all required documents.

When all 5 pages of the application are completed, and all required documents in the checklist are compiled, send your entire application to the Gateway Car Donation Ministry in one of the following ways:

  • Scan and email: barry.nations@gatewaypeople.com
  • Mail: Gateway Church, Attention Barry Nations, 500 S Nolen Dr, Southlake, TX 76092
  • Drop off: Gateway Administrative Building (500 S Nolen Dr, Southlake, TX 76092), Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm (Note: give your complete application packet to the receptionist and say it is a Car Application for Barry Nations)

Step 3:

Once we have received your fully completed and signed Car Application, with all required documents found in the checklist, our Team will review it to make sure you meet the basic requirements listed in Step 1.

We will then email you that we have received your application and 1) will be proceeding, or 2) that it was incomplete, or 3) we are unable to move forward with processing of your application because you did not meet the requirements.

If the basic requirements have been met, the process now involves compiling all your information to make a case for you. The Car Donation Team looks at your resources, your involvement in Gateway, spending habits, tithing records, and any other information we have from any of the other campuses.

The Car Donation Team considers all of your information, including your present financial hardship, and reviews your application at our monthly Car Donation Team meeting. After prayerful consideration, and if the Team unanimously agrees, you will be called in for the next step of the process, which is an interview. An interview is not a guarantee that you will be receiving a car; it only means you've been chosen to move on to the next step of the process.

Step 4:

The interview will be held at the Gateway Church Administration building located at 500 S Nolen Drive, Southlake. Two of our team members will spend 30 minutes with you getting to know you personally and discuss your situation. They will ask you a few questions and make sure we have all your correct information.

Step 5:

After your interview, your case will go before the Car Donation Ministry Board to be voted on the next time they meet. If you are not selected for a car, you will get an email from us letting you know. If the board unanimously decides you would be a good fit for one of our cars, you will get a phone call from us with the good news! We will arrange a time for you to come to the Gateway Church Administration building to fill out the final paperwork and receive your car!

Please understand that it can take 1 to 6 months after your interview before you receive a call from us. Since we rely on cars that are donated to us, how many people are on the list ahead of you, and car availability, we never know how long this process will take.

There is no need to call or write and check on the status of your case. We will keep you informed with an email each time you make it through to the next step of the process. Right now, we recommend that you pray and continue to be a good steward of what resources God has allowed you to have, and manage it the best you can.
