Biblical Foundation for Physical Healing

Biblical Foundation for Physical Healing
The Old Testmament contains many scriptures on physical healing; "For I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26, NKJV); "Who heals all your diseases" (Psalm 103:3, NKJV).

The prophet Isaiah stated that the Messiah would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). The Hebrew word for "griefs" in this verse means "sicknesses and diseases," and the word for sorrows means "pain and suffering." One account of Jesus, states that God anointed Him "with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." (Acts 10:38, NKJV).

The Bible also teaches that, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8, NKJV). What Jesus did over two thousand years ago, He still does today through His body of believers on Earth, by the Holy Spirit. Jesus stated that one of the signs following those who believe is that “they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:18b, NKJV).

Shortly before ascending to Heaven, Jesus promised His disciples that they would receive power from the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). At Gateway Church, we firmly believe that God still heals today, and our desire is for everyone to experience the healing power of Christ. Our goal is to help sick, hurting and injured people, directly connect to Jesus Himself, and to lay hands on them, believing that God will reveal Himself to them as their Healer. Although our hope is that God will heal miraculously, we acknowledge, that God can heal through medical and natural means.
